Definition

Self fabric refers to a component — usually the inner sweatband or lining — made from the same fabric as the main crown. The result is a monochromatic, refined interior without the standard grey polyester band.

The conventional solution uses a white or grey polyester sweatband, inexpensive but visible inside the cap. Self fabric replaces this element with the cap's own material: cotton, canvas or technical fabric coordinated with the outer colour. Beyond aesthetics (a brand-consistent interior), self fabric can offer superior comfort when natural materials such as cotton or wool are used. For customisation, the self fabric sweatband is an additional surface on which a heat transfer or branding patch can be applied; direct embroidery is not recommended as it risks perforating the padding.
