Pom-pom
pompom, pom, bobble, top pom
Soft yarn or synthetic ball attached to the top of a beanie. Decorative element that defines the classic winter look.
The pom-pom is the soft, spherical element attached to the crown of a beanie. It can be made from matching yarn, faux fur or technical materials. On models with a removable pom-pom it can also be replaced with a branded version.
The traditional pom-pom is made by winding yarn around a cardboard template and then cutting the threads to form the sphere. Technical versions use acrylic or faux fur pom-poms for a more voluminous, luxurious effect. In B2B customisation contexts, the pom-pom is a secondary branding point: some manufacturers offer custom printed fabric or logo-embossed silicone pom-poms. The presence of a pom-pom affects the available embroidery space on the upper crown: with a pom-pom the logo is placed on the front cuff; without one it can move higher towards the centre.
