Definition

Merino wool comes from the Merino sheep, a breed selected to produce very fine fibres (17–22 microns). Unlike standard wool it does not scratch the skin, has natural thermoregulating properties and inhibits the bacterial growth responsible for odours.

Merino wool's properties make it suited to cold conditions (retains heat even when wet) and to moderate temperatures (manages moisture to the exterior). Recycled Merino comes from production offcuts or post-consumer garments re-processed into new yarn: it retains the technical properties of virgin fibre with a significantly lower environmental impact. In beanies and technical garments worn directly against the skin, Merino is the top choice for comfort and thermoregulation. For customisation: flat embroidery is compatible; screen printing and DTF are not recommended on Merino knitwear due to the risk of shrinkage.
