02 — Manifesto

We analyze it like an editorial team would. We don't sell it.

Among the Merino wool beanies in the Atlantis catalogue, the Baru stands out for a precise choice: 100% recycled Merino wool with flatlock flat seams and an ultra-thin profile designed for those who wear the beanie under a helmet or hard hat. It is not a city beanie — it is a technical accessory that works as a second thermal layer during high-intensity outdoor activity.

The recycled Merino yarn combines the natural qualities of wool — active thermoregulation, breathability, intrinsic antibacterial properties — with a measured environmental impact: 0.911 kgCO2eq per piece, a 68% reduction versus the reference baseline, the most significant environmental figure among the beanies in the Atlantis catalogue. The compact construction with flat seams ensures comfort without irritation even in direct skin contact. For front embroidery up to 12×4.5 cm and side embroidery up to 6×5 cm on both sides.

It is the natural choice for athletes, outdoor brands and those after a technical beanie with a quality material. It is not the right product for those wanting a voluminous cuffed beanie or a thick winter cap: the Baru is designed to be light, snug and discreet — to be worn on its own in the mid-seasons or as a base layer in intense winter activities.

01
Embroidery· Molto buono
78%
The compact recycled Merino wool fabric supports front embroidery up to 12×4.5 cm without significant distortion, provided a water-soluble stabiliser is used under the fabric to prevent the yarn from loosening during processing. Sides embroiderable up to 6×5 cm on both sides. Back up to 12×4.5 cm. The reduced fabric thickness requires fine-gauge needles (75/11) and moderate stitch density to preserve the knit's elastic properties. Not compatible with 3D puff embroidery — the fine fabric cannot hold the additional padding.
Max area 12x4.5
02
Patch — Woven / PVC / Faux leather· Molto buono
70%
Woven or eco-leather patches applicable via perimeter stitching on the front or sides. Heat-sealing is not recommended on wool fabric — prefer stitching only. Recommended size: max 5 cm per side to avoid excessive stiffness on the beanie.
03
DTF — Direct to Film· Buono
58%
Read the technical analysis
DTF transfer is applicable on the front (12×4.5 cm) with an iron or flat press at moderate temperature (no higher than 150°C to preserve the woollen fibres). The fabric's elasticity can cause micro-cracks on the transfer over time. Not recommended as a primary technique — prefer embroidery for durability and quality.
Max area 12x4.5
04
Screen printing· Non compatibile
0%
Read the technical analysis
The knit structure of the Merino wool is not suited to screen printing: the squeegee cannot glide evenly over an elastic, irregularly textured fabric. The ink does not deposit in a controlled way and the traction forces during printing deform the fabric.
05
Sublimation· Non compatibile
0%
Read the technical analysis
Wool, even recycled, is not compatible with sublimation: sublimation dyes require polyester to fix. The 100% recycled Merino wool composition makes this technique not applicable.
06
DTG — Direct to Garment· Non compatibile
0%
Read the technical analysis
The three-dimensional structure of the beanie and the knit texture of the Merino wool prevent uniform contact with the print head. For digital printing on this model use DTF with a dedicated flat press.

Ideal

Outdoor & corporate sports

The thin recycled Merino beanie is the technical choice for outdoor, trail running, ski touring and cycling brands: worn as a base layer under a helmet it eliminates the discomfort of thick seams, and the Merino's thermoregulation actively manages body temperature during high-intensity activity.

Ideal

Sports event & marathon

The ultra-thin beanie is ideal in race packs for winter marathons, trails and mountain races: it weighs little, rolls into a pocket, and the Merino's antibacterial properties keep it hygienic even after prolonged use. One size simplifies distribution to large batches.

Suitable for winter sports teams, cycling, triathlon and mountain biking after a technical warm-up or base-layer beanie. Front embroidery allows the team logo to be applied permanently without adding volume to the thin profile.
Recycled Merino wool sits clearly above the economy tier of winter promotional gifts. The 68% CO2 reduction figure is among the highest in the Atlantis catalogue — a concrete communication argument for brands with a sustainability agenda.
In corporate welcome kits for outdoor, mountain or sports teams the Baru is a high-perceived-value gift — Merino wool is associated with premium products. Embroidering the company logo on a natural recycled material conveys a brand identity attentive to quality and sustainability.
Suitable for mountain destination brands, ski resorts or tour operators with winter outdoor activities. The compact profile makes it practical in luggage — it takes no space and weighs less than 30 grams.
As a premium gift for those who do outdoor sport it is a much-appreciated choice — Merino wool has a high perceived value. Custom embroidery turns the beanie into a bespoke object.
The Baru can appeal to lifestyle brands with an outdoor or performance positioning. The thin profile and just two neutral colours limit versatility for streetwear that prefers voluminous beanies or a wide palette.
Suitable for associations with winter outdoor activities. One size is advantageous for distributions to volunteers. The palette of just two colours may not cover the association's institutional colours.
Suitable for outdoor team building in the cold season. The perceived quality of recycled Merino aligns with mid-to-high-tier corporate events.
For creators the Baru works in an outdoor or performance positioning — recycled Merino wool is a narratively strong material. The palette of just two colours limits merchandising options.
The thin beanie has a presence in winter motorsport as a pit-crew accessory. The compact profile fits under racing helmets or hoods.
For personal use it is an excellent option for those who do outdoor sport. Those after a casual winter beanie with volume and a wide palette will find more choice in other catalogue models.
Suitable for autumn or winter outdoor festivals where the cap is functional before being aesthetic. The limited palette restricts options for merchandise with a strong visual identity.
Suitable for universities with outdoor or sports programmes. The minimal aesthetic does not have the same visual impact as a cuffed beanie or applied patch.
For music merchandise it works for genres with a minimalist or outdoor aesthetic — folk, indie, ambient. The dark palette suits this kind of positioning well.
The thin profile can be useful as a thermal base layer for workers in cold environments — it sits under the safety helmet without interfering. It is not certified PPE.
The technical Merino beanie is not the identity format of gaming aesthetics. It can work for esports brands with a premium or outdoor-crossover positioning.
It is not the main format for hospitality. It can work as a seasonal gift for venues in mountain contexts with a sports clientele.
The technical beanie is not suitable as a staff uniform in formal contexts. It only works for outdoor staff in cold environments where functionality prevails over aesthetics.
