Crown
cap crown, top panel, dome
The upper part of a headwear piece that wraps the head. The primary surface for embroidery and front customisation.
The crown is the structural part of a headwear piece that forms the dome and wraps the head. It is made up of 4, 5 or 6 sewn panels and terminates at the top with the button. It is the main zone for logo embroidery.
Crown height (low, mid, high) influences both the aesthetic and the available embroidery area: a high crown provides more space for complex vertical designs; a low crown gives a more contemporary look. The internal structure of the front panels (buckram in structured models, absent in unstructured ones) determines compatibility with precision embroidery. On beanies, the crown is the entire upper knit section and embroidery is applied directly to the stretch fabric.
