Every promotional clothing brand has its big-numbers T-shirt, the one that carries campaigns of thousands of pieces. For SOL'S it is the Regent, which the manufacturer presents with a colour range among the widest on the market: 47, from Absolute White to Bottle Green. It is a customisable unisex T-shirt in semi-combed cotton jersey, meaning partly cleared of short fibres, at 150 g/m²: a lightweight. The body is a single tube of knit with no side seams. The ribbed collar, knitted in stretchy ridges that spring back, has a thread of elastane, a highly elastic fibre, and a reinforcing tape. It is certified, so tested for harmful substances, and PETA-Approved Vegan.

On smooth pure-cotton jersey, print has a clear run. SOL'S lists it as suitable for , digital printing, , heat transfer and heat-applied vinyl. For long runs we recommend screen printing, for a few T-shirts with many colours direct-to-garment printing. Embroidery, on the other hand, we advise against: below 170 g/m² the jersey cannot carry the weight of the stitches and puckers around the logo. On this T-shirt, print is the way to go. On the Ash and Grey colours, which contain viscose, a fibre made from wood cellulose, a test is needed.

The technique of large runs, offered by SOL'S on this model. Each colour is printed through its own screen, and across three hundred T-shirts the cost of the screen is spread until it almost disappears. Cotton jersey, a knit with a smooth face, takes the ink evenly; on dark and bright colours an opaque white base is needed, as SOL'S itself points out: a layer of white printed under the design.
SOL'S recommends digital printing precisely for cotton fabrics, and on smooth jersey it shows what it can do: it works like a printer, with no screens, even on a single T-shirt with a photograph. Dark colours need a pre-treatment, a liquid sprayed on so the ink can grip, and a white base underneath that keeps the colours bright. On the two greys with viscose, a cellulose fibre on which colours print less vividly, we ask for a test before the run.

It is the T-shirt of quantities: an association's summer party, the staff of a village fair, the trade show with a stand to fill. It is not the right choice for a brand that sells its T-shirts, because anyone paying for one expects more body. For that, in the same family, there is the Imperial: same construction and 190 g/m². Before ordering: XXS, 4XL and 5XL exist in some colours only, and SOL'S advises against tumble drying.
