Slam
- GRS
A third lighter than a cotton T-shirt: it is the technical shirt for races and training. Recycled polyester with GRS certification, a light 100 g/m², with stretch inserts on shoulders, back and sides. It is customised with heat transfer on every colour; sublimation is possible on white only. Roly describes it as breathable; it suits corporate tournaments and amateur teams. It only comes in a men's cut.

We analyze it like an editorial team would. We don't sell it.

One hundred grams per square metre, a third less than a lightweight cotton T-shirt: the Slam is Roly's customisable technical shirt. The main fabric, in , is combined with stretchier panels on the shoulders, back and sides, with 8% elastane. Roly places it in the Control Dry line and describes it as breathable; the certification, shown on the technical sheet, covers the recycled origin of the polyester.

On polyester, printing follows different rules from cotton. Roly offers in up to 6 colours and heat transfer on every shade, while , the technique that takes the colour into the fibre without adding thickness, is listed on white only. Dark colours need extra care: with heat, the dye of the fabric can rise into the design and stain it, which is why printers work at a low temperature and with a barrier under the print. The panel seams can cut across a large design on the back: it is worth checking where they fall on the photos. With such a thin fabric, and patches are best avoided.
Printing techniques.
A verdict for each one.
What to expect on this specific product, technique by technique.
It is the only printing technique shown on the manufacturer's technical sheet, and Roly's data list it in up to 8 flat colours, meaning solid inks with no gradients. The design is prepared on a sheet and transferred with heat in a few seconds: a short step, suited to a lightweight fabric. It works well for club and sponsor logos with clean colours. Roly does not require a double barrier; asking the print shop for one on dark shades remains our own precaution.
On the front, back, chest, left sleeve and neck, Roly offers full-colour transfer. It reproduces gradients, photographs and multi-colour sponsor logos, even on a few pieces. Two precautions, both ours: press at a low temperature, because the fabric is thin, and use a film with a barrier on strong colours such as black, navy and red. A large, solid design stiffens the shirt at that spot and lets less air through: lighter designs with open spaces work better.

It makes sense for a race pack, an amateur team, or a padel tournament between colleagues. It is not the right choice for a mixed group: it only comes in a men's cut, from S to 3XL, with no women's version and no children's sizes. For an office uniform or a generic giveaway it is too thin and too sporty. Anyone who wants a sublimated design as the main project can look at the Sublima, also by Roly: 150 g/m², a fuller fabric than the Slam's, 100% polyester, designed for that technique.

Company run, padel tournament between colleagues, the firm's cycling group: here the Slam is in its element. It weighs little, the stretch panels follow your movements and the company logo can be applied in heat transfer on every colour. Organisers just need to remember that female colleagues will get the same cut as the men.
The race pack of a run or a gran fondo is the most direct use: a lightweight technical shirt, the event artwork on the chest and sponsors on the back. Screen printing in up to 6 colours covers large runs. Worth telling participants: there is one cut only, a men's cut, and it starts from S, which measures 48 cm from side to side.
